Ed Presnall is an author, technology consultant, trainer and tracking judge who spends the majority of his time teaching, training and writing about dogs.

He and his dogs have earned numerous titles in conformation, obedience, agility and tracking. As a multiple-award-winning member of the Dog Writers Association of America, his articles and stories are published in many dog-related magazines, newsletters and web sites.

Author of three best-selling books, Component Training For Variable Surface Tracking (1998 PawMark Press); the 2001 DWAA Maxwell Medallion winner, Component Training, A Companion Guide for VST (2001 PawMark Press) and the 1999 DWAA Maxwell Medallion winner, The Clumber Spaniel Handbook (1999 PawMark Press) he is currently working on several new book projects.

His third book on Variable Surface Tracking will be realeased in June 2003 by Dogwise. Look for Mastering Variable Surface, A Component Training Approach ... soon!

Additionally, a draft for a new TD/TDX training book, a soon to be released book on the trials and tribulations of participants in canine sports and a series of children’s books on pet ownership and responsibility.

As a member of DWAA, in addition to earning two Maxwell Awards, he has been awarded Certificates of Excellence for The Dog Nobody Wanted, a story about his dog and Tracking Fields, an introduction to basic tracking; and a feature article on variable surface tracking titled Enlightenment and Introduction To VST

Ed & Race Ed is recognized as one of the leading trainers in the sport of tracking and has earned multiple VST titles with his dogs. He has also trained several other breeds and their handlers to their VST title. Ed is currently training another Clumber Spaniel and an Cocker Spaniel. His students are currently working at the VST level with a Vizsla, Beagle, Basset Hound, Field Spaniel, Portuguese Water Dog, English Springer, Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Doberman, Minature Wirehaired Dachshund, Bouvier, Belgian Tervuren and Golden Retriever. Additionally he assists many of those who are currently working on or have passed the VST test with specific training or component problems.

Ed and his dogs have appeared on several television shows including the Animal Planet series Breed All About It! In June of 2002, Ed and his Field Spaniel Race participated as one of only five Champion Tracker teams in the first AKC National Tracking Exhibition in Villa Park, IL in a demonstration of both TDX and VST tracking. The April 2003 issue of the AKC Gazette contains an article interviewing Ed about training versitile dogs.

When not writing, consulting or judging the sport, he is involved in teaching tracking classes (both privately and for several tracking clubs) or hosting seminars in basic and advanced tracking around the United States and Internationally.
