Hand braided latigo leather collar fitted with nickle plated chain martingale. For the discriminating trainer or owner who loves the warmth and stability of latigo leather and the control of a chain martingale. Available in a range of collar diameters in 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 or 1 inch widths in black, burgundy or black and burgundy colors.
These are custom made collars, not in-stock or pre-made collars. Your collar will be made to order from your measurements. Leather Braided and Flat Martingale (half check) collars are NOT adjustable.
Martingale Chain Collars utilize a metal chain in place of the normal fabric martingale loop. The chain extends the life of the collar, as the chain absorbs any abrasion or tension as the collar is used. When a leash is attached to the ring, the loop tightens, and prevents your dog from slipping out of the collar. This Martingale Chain Collar is useful for training dogs not to pull while on a leash, and for breeds that have smaller heads who typically may slide or back out of a normal collar.
These collars are a popular choice for control and comfort in walking or training most breeds. A martingale provides limited choke action and prevents slip outs. These collars are NOT designed to be left on your dog unsupervised.
Martingale collars were originally designed to be slipped over your dog's head. If your dog has a larger head than his/her neck, or if you have arthritis or trouble slipping a collar over your dog's head, we would suggest that you add the optional quick-snap release to the collar.

You are ultimately responsible for measuring your dog properly. Failure to follow these instructions may cause you to receive a collar that does not fit your dog. We repeat, these collars are custom made to your measurements. If you provide the wrong measurements, your collar may not fit your dog and you will be faced with a shipping fee and a restocking charge to remake your collar.
Latigo Braided Collars are wider than they measure. Please note the differences in the before (flat latigo leather) and the (after) braided leather widths. Not only are they wider, the larger the width, the heavier the collar is in its braided form.

5/8" braids to 7/8"

How to measure your dog's neck size for this collar.
Tools needed - measuring tape or string and yardstick.
Using a measuring tape or string carefully measure your dog's neck. You may also measure your dog's current collar .
If measuring your dog's neck, the measurement is taken at the top of the neck, directly behind the ears. See Figure A below.
If using a string, measure the length of the string used to go around your dog's neck.
If you are satisfied with the fit of your dog's current collar, measure that collar.
5 Write down the measurement.
Select a size for your collar that closest matches (does not exceed) the measurement from the drop down list.
